2024 Summer Reading Suggestions from the TSC Library: TSC Junior Librarians: Recommendations and More!

TSC JUNIOR LIBRARIANS

This year TSC 5th–8th graders were given the oppurtunity to apply to be a Junior Librarian. Junior Librarians volunteer their time to learn more about how the library is organized and to help in the behind-the-scenes work that goes into making our collection accessible to the whole community.

What do Junior Librarians do?

This inaugural cohort of Junior Librarians has done an outstanding job! They've worked hard to support the library in many ways and should take pride in all they've contributed to the community. They dedicated many a recess to the unglamorous but necessary task of shelving. They took turns at the circulation desk checking books in and out, helped younger students locate books, and created displays promoting the library and reading. They also collaborated on initiatives like Project Cicero (for which we collected 1000s of books to donate to public schools across the city), writing and editing the very first Junior Librarians Newsletter (June issue coming soon!), and creating a special "Find Your Perfect Book" form to help students discover great new books.
